Boccia Australia and the Australian Paralympic Committee are committed to the development of Boccia coaches throughout Australia. Athletes who have access to appropriately qualified coaches will advance more quickly in a safe yet challenging environment along a pathway which begins with entry level and can lead to international representation. The performance of athletes at all levels is reflective of the quality of coaching they are receiving.
Boccia Australia is delighted to announce that in conjunction with the Australian Paralympic Committee the Introduction to Coaching Boccia course has been developed and the pilot course will be conducted in Adelaide in 2015. Following a review of this course it will be submitted for endorsement by the Australian Sports Commission and recognised under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. Coaches who complete the course requirements can therefore expect to be nationally recognised.
The course will be conducted by Mr Chris Nunn, the APC Performance Coaching Advisor who has a wealth of experience as a Paralympic and Australian Institute of Sport coach. The Australian Head Coach for Boccia Mr Peter King will be overseeing the practical components of the skills sessions.
