Become a Referee

So, you are thinking of becoming a Boccia Referee? That is fantastic news!

Officials are critical to the success of boccia and the experience of our athletes. Refereeing is deeply rewarding way to contribute to boccia.

There are two levels of accreditation for Boccia Australia Referees:

  1. Level 1 Accreditation by Boccia Australia enables referees to referee at Social, Local and State Competitions.
  2. Level 2 Accreditation enables referees to referee at Social, Local, State, plus National Competitions

International Refereeing Accreditation is only available through World Boccia

Each accreditation course contains a number of modules that must be completed in full to become a registered BA Referee.

The Theoretical Part of our training is entirely web-based, so you can do it from anywhere in Australia. The training consists of 5 online modules, each followed by a quiz. You must work your way through the modules and need 100% pass rate on the (open book) quizzes to move on to the next module. You can attempt the quizzes as many times as you like.

Once you have completed your Theoretical Part, you will need to do a Practical Component - generally undertaken at a State or National Titles.

The training is hosted on our Boccia Australia Referee Training Moodle site. Please send an email to referee@boccia.com.au to be given access to the training site.
