Boccia in Queensland Update:
Published Mon 09 Aug 2021
Bruna Accurso, Sport Development Coordinator for Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association has provided the following information regarding the return to Boccia in QLD after the recent lockdown.
“We got the happy news yesterday regarding the end of the lockdown in the 11 Local Government Areas in South East Queensland, but unfortunately, the restrictions that remain until Sunday 22th August will impact some of our activities.
According to the restrictions that we must follow, the Queensland Tri Series Round 3 will have to be postponed. We will do our best to book the venue for another day, and hopefully, we can find a place and a date suitable for everyone to reschedule instead of cancelling.
The Boccia Programs in Moreton Bay, Brisbane City and Redlands will have to be cancelled until Sunday 22th August as well.
I know those are not exciting or good news, but we need to keep following the restrictions, being positive and doing our part, so we can all go back to the activities soon.
BOCCIA BATTLE 2021 – QUEENSLAND BOCCIA CHAMPIONSHIPS
As you know, the Boccia Battle – Queensland Boccia Championships that was supposed to be in August was postponed due to previous COVID restrictions as well. However, I am pleased to inform you all that the Boccia Battle will be held from Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th September 2021 at the Morayfield Sport and Events Centre (MSEC).
We strongly encourage regional, developing and junior athletes to embrace the opportunity to enter to gain valuable experience in a competition setting. The registration will be open until Friday 27th August. If you have any questions or problems registering, do not hesitate to contact me.
The 2021 BOCCIA BATTLE will be held according to the BISFed International Rules 2018 V3. You can access the rules updates document via Rules – World Boccia. The original English version of these rules will be applied to resolve situations in which there is doubt or a disagreement regarding the interpretation of a rule"
