Classification at BANT

Published Mon 05 Sep 2022

Classification:

All athletes are required to be Provisionally Classified to register to participate in the 2022 Boccia Australia Nationals.

New athletes must complete the Provisional Classification & Medical Diagnostic form from the BA Website -
https://www.boccia.com.au/classification/ and email these 2 x forms, along with a video of the player during a game directly to:  classification@boccia.com.au

Classification will be held pre-competition on Sunday 30th October.

National Classification will be held for players:

1. With a Provisional Classification status

2. With a National Classification Review status (with a review date prior to 2022)

Athletes who do not have a provisional classification by the closing date for registration (30 September) will have to play as an Open athlete – previously called EMU. (An Open athlete is someone who has a level of impairment which doesn’t meet the minimum criteria for classification).

Post Classification - if a player is classified into a different classification than they originally entered, they will continue in the class they entered.

(Note: They will not be able to progress into the semi-finals or finals.  eg: if a player enters as a BC3 and is classified as a BC1, then they will continue to play in the BC3 pools, and will not progress out of the pools. If this occurs in a Teams or Pairs game the athlete will be allowed to play into the semis and finals, however the team or pair will not be eligible for a medal).
